Receiving Faxes

I have an internal FAX Modem AC97 Soft Data Fax Modem with Smart CP that came
on my HP laptop with the Windows XP OS. I configured the Microsoft Fax
Services. I am able to send faxes, but not receive faxes. I noticed others
having similar problems and was told to view the HCL list. I was not sure if
others were working with external fax modems different from the AC97. I
would like to know if there are incompatibility issues with the AC97's. If
so, what modems, or solutions did you find to resolve your problems receiving
faxes - aside from buying a fax machine. Do the internet faxes seem to work?l

i have the same problem with my creative modem 56k internal
however at first i installed WINFAX PRO and i could send & receiv the
faxes but after i installed and configure my bluetooth options i faced
problems with receving teh faxes.
I uninstalled winfax pro and reinstalled it even i formatted all my
hard disk and re partioned it again but i cant receive fax any more
however i can send successfully.

could u plz help me in this matter?

p.s.I forgot to mention that my modem receive fax in manuall mode but
it has problem in Automatic mode,in this way that,it answers but
disconnect the connection after 4 seconds.

I use Windows fax to send, and eFax Free (http://www.efax.com/) to receive.

Works fine for me.

eFax Free provides you a fax number (usually not near you) and routes the
fax documents to your email account.
