Receive updates to GAL in Outlook

Wondering if there is a way to force outlook to get the latest version of
the gal, or latest modification....
Because when creating users in Exchange 2003, RUS updates the AD account
with Exchange attributes within 1 minute, but in Outlook 2003, it takes a
while before the new user appears...
Even closing and opening up outlook dos'nt do the trick all the time.

Thanks !!!

It's a two step process.

1) Open Exchange System Manager. Drop down the list of recipients.
Click on the Offline address lists. In the right window pane right
click the "default offline address list" and select "Rebuild". It may
take some time depending on how many users are in the GAL.

2) Once complete, on client workstations go to Tools->Send and Receive
and select "download address book".

Hopefully another contributor knows how to force the client update
from the top down. I'd like to know how to do that.

This is expected behavior when Outlook 2003/7 is running in cached mode.
The reason why is that these things have to happen before the new entry is
seen in Outlook.

1) Exchange has to rebuild the offline address book. Default configuration
is where this happens once a day around the 4-5am hour.

2) Outlook has to download the changes to the offline address book. Outlook
does this once every 24 hours.

New additions to the GAL are immediately visible to users in cached mode if
they look in the All Users list. Because of this you can work around the
offline address book update delay by adding the All Users list to the list
of address books to search when reconciling email addresses.
