Rebuilding my XP machine

I have a Compaq that originally came with Window Millennium. I upgraded to
XP Home by downloading the upgrade from the internet. The system is now hosed
and I need to rebuild it from scratch. I don't have an XP disk (downloaded
online), so how do I rebuild a machine when I don't have the disk? Also, how
do I obtain the upgrade again online without paying for it? Do I need to go
back to the original load and then upgrade? I am better off just buying XP
on disk and starting over? Signed: Looking for expertise.

How did you "download the upgrade to Windows XP"?!

There is no legitimate way to download any version of Windows (unless you
have an MSDN account, which I am assuming you do not have because you would
not ask a question like the question you asked).

You will not find anyone to help you with pirated software here.

If you should choose to do the right thing and buy a legitimate copy of
Windows XP, then you will find a number of people in these newsgroups kind
enough to help you.

You need to go out and purchase a legitimate "Full Version" of Windows XP
and then perform a "clean install".
