reboot while accessing CD rom

Just re-installed XP home and downloaded microsoft updates (except SP2)
eveytime i try to copy CD's (music ones so far) using media player 10 my
computer automatically re-boots after a few seconds and upon re-start tells
me that a driver problem caused a serious error. This also happens when i use
CDEX to copy music. Generally when accessing the CDRW drive (Sony unit) it's
slow and and often "sticks"

There are no new drivers or firmware upgrades for my CDRW drive
 
Try the same procedure in another user account, also check the Device
Manager to see if it is functioning properly.
