reboot cycle

I just upgraded (got that weekly message that an upgrade
was available) xp home edition. when the machine
rebooted, it got the point that the welcome screen
appeared and the music started then the maqchine rebooted,
go to the same point and rebooted, got to
the ...........it is stuck in this loop. What happened.
any body else had problems like this. I can't even get it
up in safe mode!

Press F8 while the machine is booting to get the advanced startup options. Choose last known good configuration. Then go to System Properties control panel, Advanced tab, Startup and Recovery section, Settings button, System Failure section, and uncheck Automatically Restart. Next time it blue screens, you will be able to see a screen with error messages.
