After reinstalling win xp, the os has assigned the D: to the cd rom and then
the other partitions of the hard disk are assigned e, f, g.
How can I force it to assign D: to the second partition of the hard disk?
anil.

If the drives e, f, and g are not system drives, you can us Disk Management
to change the drive letter assignments. First change the CD-ROM drive to any
letter between H and Z. You can then change the drives to the desired
letter. If you have install application to the drives, you may need to
reinstall the applications.

Control Panel - Admin Tools - Computer Management, select Disk
Management and look lower right for the graphic of the drive. and for
the CD icon.

R-click the CD icon or in any partition of the drive except C and you
can 'change drive letter'
