The Internet Status Agent shows as inactive, and clicking
activate does not activate it. What steps beed to be done
to accomplish this?
When I try to activate the agents I get an error
message " could not start security agents ".
How can I get the 3 agents activated

Here's one fix to try:

start, control panel, add or remove programs, Microsoft Antispyware

"click here for support info" link

Repair.

This post was also on the page. I tried it and mine
worked. - Joe

Then, try these steps:

1) Open up a command prompt (start -> run -> type in ->
command)
2) Type in the following "regsvr32 msvbvm60.dll" (without
the quotes).
3) Close and re-open Windows AntiSpyware

You can go ahead and do both of these--neither has any
downside risk--and see if that does the job. Let us know
whether it does, or not!

Sometimes, you have to try 2 o 3 times with MSAS, in
order to stick the selection, try.

Good luck

Back again. It did help some but it is turning off
again. At least now I can click activate to restart but
I can't keep it running.

OK--time for radical surgery:

1) uninstall Microsoft Antispyware
2) Delete the installation folder--\program files\microsoft antispyware
(and all subfolders) You will lose access to quarantined items and any
history or custom settings.
3) Reinstall Microsoft Antispyware, taking care to be signed in as the
administrator user who will customarily use the program.

Glad to hear it Joe--there are several different situations which are
described in these same terms. Sometimes I give the omnibus fix----not sure
why I didn't for this thread.
