Real-Time Protection Agents not installed properly?

T

Tom

I successfully installed Antispyware Beta1 on two
computers today, but then my third install did not go so
well. All 3 computers, including the one I am currently
trying to troubleshoot, are running windows XP Pro with
service pack 2.

So here's what happened - The install seemed to go
smoothly, and the initial quick scan (no threats found) I
clicked on the Real-Time Protection button.

Under Real-Time Protection - Instead of seeing "3 Agents
enabled" this computer says "18 Agents enabled". And
besides Internet Agents, System Agents, and Application
Agents, it simply says "Active" with no count of how many
agents are running under each category. When I roll my
mouse over each, they all say "25 of 25 Internet Agents
Active" and both the Activate and DeActivate buttons are
disabled.

I click on Internet Agents and see only one Checkpoint
listed - "Windows Host File Agent". None of the buttons
in the lower right (Activate, Deactivate, Manage,
Learn..) do anything. The other two types of Agents
(system and application) don't show any Checkpoints
whatsoever. Yet, on the main Real-Time Protection page,
it says "100 checkpoints on duty".

I tried rebooting. I tried removing the software,
deleting the directory, and deleting registry keys before
reinstalling.

Any ideas? TIA!

I am experiencing the Exact same issue, also using XP-Pro-
SP2 (All patched).
Manual scans seem to work without incident for me, but
real-time protection is non-existant. Also, the Advanced
Tool "System Explorers" is non-functional. Attempting to
view "Agent Events" causes an endless 'hourglass' mouse
cursor, and nothing happens. The program does not freeze
or crash, it simply doesn't load anything that it should
be there, you can click other options to leave that screen
without incident - it just seems unable to list Events.

I've successfully installed AntiSpyware on two XP Professional computers.
One is SP2 and the other is SP1.

On the third computer (SP2), everything seems to work except that I cannot
enable real-time protection. Whenever I try, the software continually tries
to start another instance of AntiSpyware. If I don't shut it down, the
system tray fills with icons and the task manager shows many processes being
created.

I un-installed the software and then re-installed it. That didn't fix the
problem.

This seems a bit different than the other problems in this thread, but it
may be related.

Has anyone seen this problem?

Does anyone have suggestions on what to do to get it fixed?

Thanks,
Brad
