I have been to the BBC website and have launched the Radio Station selection
window. It is true that the BBC have always required that Real Player be
installed, and I have found also that it doesn't seem to work very well. But
as of right now, that window gives you the choice of Real Player or of
Windows Media Player. You and I must be looking at the same thing, namely
www.bbc.co.uk/radio so I can't understand why you cannot connect to this
site. If you go to the /radio page, in the top right corner you will see the
invitation to launch. Then a pop-up window appears which allows you to select
either one of the BBC's channels or a genre of programs. Select Radio Five
Live, click "Go". When the next window opens it shows the choice of Real
Player or WMP in the top left corner. Ignore that and click where it says
"Play". It takes a little while to load, but then the streamed radio comes
through loud and clear.

Someone else will have to tell you how to get rid of Real Player.

Thanks Neil, but my problem isn`t `not getting thru to bbc radio`,it`s getting
rid of pest that is realplayer,it`s screwing with my codecs and I can`t
uninstall the program

I suggest reinstalling RealPlayer, make sure it runs, then trying to
uninstall it. When finished, run AdAware and Spybot (latest versions; update
them before scanning) to make sure you didn't get anything else installed
without your knowlege.

Can you roll back to a restore point that predates the
installation of RealPest?

No suggestions about getting rid of it. I've done it in the past but
they seem to make the software more intrusive and sneaky every time they
upgrade it. But when you do manage to track down and kill all the bits
you might want to install the free jetAudio application downloadable at
http://www.jetaudio.com/index.asp which manages to play realadio streams
perfectly, is well behaved, and contains no malware. I'm listening to
the BBC World Service stream on it right now.
