Reading Text in Motion?

M

maligold

Hi:
PC is pre-installed with Media Center 2002 or Professional, which I can not
be sure due to a refurbished
PC I purchased over the Web-site.

Despite a second-hand PC, PC is perfectly OK, .... except one issue which
make me puzzling awhile.

In reading either plain text on I.E. or Discussion Groups,
it's wavy or like reading in motion. Simply, it's NOT straight when
scrolling-down to read all to the bottom of the page.

My question is;
Is there any way to change this, 'Wavy' in reading to 'straightforward,'
regular text-reading?

Thanks for your help in advance.

can you describe better what you mean by "wavy" or "reading in motion"
your question is very hard to figure out

Thanks for the response.
It's very tough for me to explain about this, but try the best to explain
is,

For example, ... I'm reading one page from top to all to the bottom by
scrolling by using a mouse.
When I try to continue to read rest of page, it's as if I'm flipping another
page by seeing like wave
in the ocean.

I have another PC with Home Edition and never experience this issue. It's
pleasant to read any pages
on the web-sites.

Then, .... whether there is difference in between XP-Professional and
XP-Home Edition in regard to
reading a text on the Web-Sites?

Thanks,

Ok now I think I understand...
and it does not matter which version of Windows you are using...
that is not normal behavior.

It looks like it's related to your video card.

Possibly due to lack of video memory or lack of video acceleration.
If the machine has any type of guarantee, I'd contact the seller at once.

Just one thing that you might be able to do...

right click on your desktop...
then go to ===> properties ===> settings ===> advanced

and see if *anywhere* there is an option to adjust video acceleration.

If it is set to "full" then that's the best the card can do...
but if it's set to none...or low...that might be the problem.

Note: If you move the slider up towards "full" , if there is a problem with
the video card...
you could loose your video entirely...so that could possible cause even
greater problems

You'd have to boot to safe mode or last known good configuration
and undo the change.

Good luck to you!

Thanks SO much for your help.

As you suspected, .... yes, there was 'yellow question mark' on Video Card
on Device Manager.

I contacted PC's maker, eMachine right away, because I purchased it only two
weeks ago through
the web-site. Even though 'flow' found, I desperately want to keep this
machine, because XP is rarely
found a place where I live.

eMachine 'chat' tech. e-mailed me a needed file for it, but didn't work.
Then, a second tech. e-mailed
me 'file' that erased Video Card/with yellow question mark. However, it's
NOT like Media Center and
more likely display/screen I see in the Laptop. For instance, text of the
web-site is completely 'left-side,'
then there is a lot of space on the right of the screen that is exactly on
my Laptop and frankly I do not like
it.

My other question is;
Whether I am able to change to the previous screen which is centered and no
extra blank space on the
right of the screen? The PC came with CD which states, "eMachines, Windows
XP Media Center Version 2005
With Update Rollup 2, Operating System Disc and For distribution only with
a new eMachines PC, Use this disc
to re-install your operating system, To re-install the operating system:
Insert this disc, close all programs, restart
your computer, then follow the on-screen instruction, WARNING: This process
erases all data and files from thehard drive."

Any other imputs and precaution on this would be truly appreciated.

Thanks again!

Ok...
first off, it looks like at least some progress is being made.
do not use that restore CD or it will erase all that's there and you will
need to start over.

If (as it seems) you now have the correct video driver installed...
you will probably only need to adjust the resolution...

so you will need to again right click on the desktop

then go to ===> properties ===> screen area

and adjust to the proper size.

Unless you can get technical help as to what the correct setting should be
you may have to do a little trial and error...
so if the screen "blanks out" when you try a setting...
the best thing to do is allow the resolution to go back as it was
and NOT make the change

Update:
I really appreciate your help.
With your help, I found what's wrong with this, ... display issue all over
the PC when I trying to read. It's quite annoying to the point where I
started to think of even 'return.'

Yesterday, all day long I spent to work on this PC with XP in trying to
resolve the issue, however it was NOT 'resolution.' I needed to re-install
everything, from files to folders. Now, today I'm quite happy because there
is NO 'curvy' reading, so it's well worth to have made this form of effort,
.... 're-install' factory-state.

Thanks again,
