reading from a CD???!

We just bought our new computer last week, and I am
trying to swtich from windows ME to XP.... I burned my
lot of data documents from the old computer, and can't
access them on this computer. I try to open a CD drive
in the "my computer" but there is only C:/ and D:/, and
no E:/ or F:/.... pleaes help? is there something wrong
with my computer? Or is windows XP just not allow anyone
to access CDs in this way?

Hi, Maria.

If you have burned the CDs with the intention of transferring the data to
your new computer, you would do so by inserting the CD into the CD-ROM and
copying from there to your hard-drive.

If XP is not recognising the CD it is because the format is not recognised.
You probably need to install UDF reader. You can download it for free
here...

Do you have more than one hard drive or more than one partition? If you
don't just one drive(c:\), then the d:\ drive is your cd drive.

Older CD-Burning software can cause this. Try to uninstall your CD Burining
software and see if the drives come back. If so get an update for the
cd-burning software.
