read/receive receipts

When you get a return receipt that says "your message has been received".
Does that mean my email was READ by the recipient or was it just delivered?

I am not sending the message. I am deleting the message that was sent to me
and it keeps popping back into my inbox and it looks like it is a new message
when it is actually the one I just deleted

It's a delivery receipt, not a read receipt. Actually, even if you
requested a read receipt and get one in return, you don't really know if the
message was read, you only know it was opened.
