Re-using CD-RW disk

I'm using Windows XP home and an HP DVD/CD burner. I used built in XP
software to burn files to new, never used CD-RW disk. All OK. I later put
same CD-RW back into drive. "Erase CD-RW" option never appears in XP.
Attempt to write more (different) files to disk through wizard leads to "This
disc is not re-writable or full" when there is much space remaining on disk.
Hoping to just do complete erase then write new files. Thank you for any
thoughts.

You should be able to format the disc - right click the drive containing the
CD and select format. The native applet doesn't support packet writing. If
you wish to leave a disc open after writing, you will need a third-party
application. The native applet is all or nothing, I'm afraid.

Open "help & support" type "cd rw", compete instructions are there.

Try putting the CD in the drive and right clicking on the drive. Erase
should be in the menu that comes up.

Native cd burning is not all or nothing as stated in a previous thread.
However, my experienc with it wasn't very positive, it leaves a lot to
be desired.
You can download a perfectly good little program, burn4free, which is
freeware, quite capable for basic mastering tasks. For more audio
options, do a search on dbpoweramp, again freeware. There are lots of
others but these two do the job well.
