My granddaughter lives back east. I live on the west coast. Her father and
mother no even less than I do about fixing problems on computers.
Here's her problem: When she got her computer she created a password so only
she could get into her areas. She lost her password, and no longer remembers
it. I thought I could help here with this, but after researching, I found
this:
"If you have not created a password reset disk, and you have also forgotten
the password for all user accounts, you cannot log on to your existing
Windows installation for security reasons. This information applies to
starting Windows XP typically, to safe mode, and to Recovery Console. In
this case, you must perform a "clean" installation of Windows XP, re-create
all user accounts, and then reinstall all your programs." I got this
information from http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=321305
Does anyone know an easier way to reset her password without having her take
it in to get fixed, or having to perform a "clean" installation of Windows
XP, and re-creating all user accounts, and then re-installing all her
programs?
Unfortunately, she did NOT make a reset disk before creating a password.
Thank you
