Re : Monitor automatic shut down/sleep mode

I got a newly formatted PC with Win 2000 installed. When
it starts up and goes through everything until before the
Win Logon page appears, the monitor will go to sleep
mode / shut down. It's okay if I start in Safe Mode.

What's gonna be the problems ?
The monitor works fine on another PC.

Most likely incorrect video drivers were installed or settings on the
card don't match what the monitor limits are. I would remove the adapter
in device manager and have it reinstall.

I would agree with Bob's suggestion that the video resolution and/or refresh
are set to a value that is out of range of the monitor. Try setting the
resolution and/or refresh to a lower value in Safe Mode.
