re modem problem with sp2

i recxentlt had SP2 installed and found that while all else worked fine
the OS could no longer see my modem (modem no longerappeared in the device
manager) . I tried uninstalling several other devices and reboooting but the
modem was not detected. Tried modem helper - no go . Eventually I
uninstalled SP2 and then tried to restore to pre upgrade oint - Sp 2
ubinstalled fine but still no modem and system would not roll back. Modem
helper now syas the hardware is fine but ithe install cannot be completed. I
am at my wits end and would really appreciate any help.

System is Dell dimension 8200 running XP home and using Conextant modem

Have you just gone to Dells' website and downloaded the actual driver and
installed it?

You could also give Device Driver roll back a try:
