RE-Installing XP Home (OEM)

I have bought a larger harddisk and would like to transfer XP and all my
programs to the new harddisk without the hassles of re-installing
everything.

I also have a PC with WIN98, which has MSBACKUP on it. This PC is networked
to the XP PC.

Would a FULL MSBACKUP of the XP PC and restore it to the new harddisk also
restore the Master Boot Record (MBR)? If restore fails to replace the MBR,
would the REPAIR option on the setup disks work?

I'm not willing to try anything until the PRO's out there in cyberspace tell
me it would work or have a better suggestion.
THANKS
BONDO

You may wish to visit the support website of the manufacturer of your
new hard drive and see if they have a free utility program that you can use to
accomplish this task. For example, if you have a new Western Digital drive,
you can download their free Data Lifeguard Tools which includes "drive-to-drive
copy capability" (Ref: http://support.wdc.com/download/).

Or you can purchase Norton Ghost and create an "image"
of your old hard drive:
