Re-Installation after HD-Crash

My Hard Disk crashed while under Guarantee, so I got a new one in exchange
for the old one.
Since then I'm not able to re-install the original Windows XP Home OS on
this disk: I created a primary NTFS partition (9 GB) on this disk. The
Installation CD starts, reformats the partition, loads system files, and
without any comment re-boots the system. The windows XP-Screen appears, then
disappears (black) and for a while, there is a lot of Disk Access. Then
....Nothing!
I tried to do exactly the same with Windows 2000, same result.

Any idea how i can fix this problem???

Toni, is the drive SATA. If yes, you need to load the drivers at Windows
Setup. Press F6 and have a floppy ready with the
drivers on it. If you have a Raid Controller and are using the Raid
Channel as the connector for the hard drive the same
procedure is required.

Thank you Rich for your advice. However, I think, it will not help, my Drive
is a HITACHI - Deskstar labeled "ATA/IDE". This Drive is connected as Master
Drive to the ATA-Bus, an I have an other older Drive connected as Slave to te
same bus.

Both drives can be accessed with LINUX Tools.
