Re-install XP won't let me format the HD

I want to re-install XP Pro and reformat the hard drive.
During the reinstallation, I am not given the option of
formatting the drive. From what I've read, I should be
given the option.

How can I get around this?

You need to boot to the CD to start the installation to be able to format
the drive.
