Re-install Windows XP

I attempted to re-install windows xp and failed! Now, my computer won't
boot windows, and wont boot in safe mode either. It just reboots. I
have been reading various articles online about how to boot off the cd
and re-install windows/clean install windows. I found this article
which didn't look like a bad solution.

I was wondering whether I should do this or reformat my drive and do a
completely fresh install. I only have the upgrade version of XP Home,
however, some articles say I can use my orginal OEM windows 95 disc to
install on a blank disc. I was wondering whetger the solution above
would do me, or whether i should and if so how I can do a clean install.

So just to check. I can use my windows 95 cd as a qualifying cd. I am
just a bit worried because it seems you have to format your hd before
it checks for the qualifiying cd, and if that doesn't work i will be
stumped. I also noticed that the windows 95 cd is a cd-r. This will
still work?
