Re-Install WIN2000 but the machine don't boot anymore !

I have an older Pentium Pro machine (Digital Celebris 6200GL) with two
Partitions containing WIN98 and WIN2000 on the other partition.

To clean up I wanted to install WIN2000 from the WIN2000 Install CD on the
first partition (cont. WIN98) and deleting the WIN2000 on the second
partition.

The first partition was changed to NTFS format and after a shutdown I foun
always a hard drive error. In Bios (with pressing F2) I changed the startup
from CD-Drive, Floppy, Harddrive and also back to default settings, trying to
boot from a WIN2000 Install CD in the CD-Drive. Always this drive error.

Next step was to use the MaxBlast3 boot software on a floppy (i have a
Maxtor HD), I reformated and initailised the drive (all the data is lost now
- aarghhh!) and hoped I can get it to install then.
The computer don't boot from the CD-R and I got the message "No OS detected"

What is the best way to get it back to work now ?
Can I tell the machine to startup from the CD-R ?

As a Mac user I'm not familiar with DOS - so please tell me step-by-step
what i exactly have to do.

Thanks a lot in advance
Peter

You write "I foun always a hard drive error". Please be specific: What
error,
what message, at what stage?

You should also download and run the disk diagnostic program that your
hard disk manufacturer makes available free of charge on his home page.
