Re-Install of Win XP Home Freezes at Splashscreen

Everything went well while I was re-installing my OEM copy of XP Home. I
partitioned, formatted and after a few more screens, the PC restarted, I get
to the Windows Splash screen (where the little bar moves across while
loading) and it freezes right there. What's going on?

More information on your system is required please.

Some new system use SCSI and special Sata drivers that must be installed
in the correct order.

Before reinstalling read or download and read your motherboard manual.
Please disable cmos virus scan before installing any windows OS.

If possible only have the following devices plugged into your system

1. Keyboard
2. Mouse
3. Monitor

Have the drivers ready for all other devices.

you will need drivers for and install in this order usually.
any Sata devices (check for floppy disks)
Motherboard
Monitor Driver
USB Mouse Driver or USB keyboard if you have one
Network card if separate from motherboard
Sound Card if separate from motherboard
CD Roms / DVDs
Printers
all other devices

To make sure you do get a clean boot set cmos to boot from the XP Home
CD rom install from there but remember to switch back once the system
works to boot from the Hard drive. While your in cmos make sure virus
check is disabled.

Before installing clean the Windows XP disk with proper CD Cleaner so
many errors on reinstall can be traced to a finger print on the disk.

Give that a try and see what happens.
