I started to have major problems wth my pc, it was not starting saying there
was UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME, i got it working but it just happened again, so
I decided to re-insall xp, here is the problem

My pc came with xp already installed and it didn't have a cd, but there is a
windows xp certificate of authenticity on the side of the tower. So to
re-install i had to borrow my fathers disc and now it says that I have to
activate windows, but if I cant do this as the disc had already been
activated on the family pc. What can I do?

hmm, the store should have provided you with cd's. you should try to get
them. but when you activate windows, you will probably have to make a toll
free number. when they ask, your computer came with windows and you did not
have to buy windows seperately. further, windows is installed on one pc.
then they will give you the activation codes..... later figure out how to
implement the product key on the side of your tower by going to microsoft.com
............
