Re-installation problem

I started to have major problems wth my pc, it was not starting saying there
was UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME, i got it working but it just happened again, so
I decided to re-insall xp, here is the problem

My pc came with xp already installed and it didn't have a cd, but there is a
windows xp certificate of authenticity on the side of the tower. So to
re-install i had to borrow my fathers disc and now it says that I have to
activate windows, but if I cant do this as the disc had already been
activated on the family pc. What can I do?

Assuming you purchased retail the supplier should have given you some means
of recovering the sys.
eg a recovery disk or recovery partition, if they didnt contact them
