RE-INKS

Because of the positive reviews on this NG, I purchased ink from RE-INK
for my Canon i850.
I found that the i850 does not use black in photo mode. It mixes all the
colors to make black. Using RE-INKS printing photos, black comes out as dark
blue. Grays print as lighter blue. The lighter the gray, the lighter the
blue color.
This can be seen when aligning the print head. The second page has a
series of small and large squares representing photo black.
Canon ink prints these squares as black RE-INKS prints them as dark
blue.
Has anyone else out thre had this same problem?
The RE-INKS tech said to return the ink because if I wanted prints to
look like the canon prints, I would never be satisifed with the RE-INKS.
Is there a compatable ink out ther that can compare with the Canon?
Cartridges or bulk.
Thanks

Concur---My research says they are among the best. I am using their
original archival pigment in an Epson 1280, and will shortly be
putting their dye-based "Epson equivalent" in my Epson 900.

They seem to be rapidly expanding their offerings, including
continuous feed systems, re-fill kits, B&W ink sets, etc. Efficent
ordering and delivery, and good customer service.

That's not exactly accurate. If a photo contains an area of black, the
black cartridge lays down a black patch before applying the colours.

But for documents, it mixes colours for black.

That's why I use grayscale mode for text and any internet documents that
I want printed in black. Many documents have a bit of colour, and the
printer will not switch back and forth between black and colour during
document printing because of the different size print areas.

The i850 uses a separate 320 nozzle area for black-only printing. It
uses 256 nozzle areas for each colour. The size of the black-only nozzle
area is almost twice the size of the colour sections, which contributes
to much faster black-only printing.
It mixes all the

I think you may have the wrong ink.

I use AtlanticInkjet for my ink supplies (sister company) and the colour
rendition is almost perfect - black is black, pink is pink, neon blue is
neon blue. It's the best match I've found and is so close that it's not
worth adjusting colour profiles.

Perhaps they sent the wrong ink?

I think perhaps the tech was worried you're nit-picking and said to
return it to keep you happy. I can't see two sister companies having
such a dramatically different ink supply, but it is possible.

Try AtlanticInkjet...I've been very satisfied with their sales and
service. Their ink matches very well.

First of all I don't think I'm that picky. Black is bkack and blue is
blue. That's not beeing picky.I just beleive that if I'm going to use a
compatable ink. it should be as good as they say it is.
That said, I have used inksupply.com (MIS) ink in the past in an Epson
C82 I had and worked very well. MIS makes their own inks and seem to cater
to Epson printers, so I'm not sure of their Canon inks. Has anyone used
their Canon inks with success? I would use theirs if I thought it was as
good as it was for my Epson.
Thanks.
