Re earlier posting of wallpaper not filling monitor

Have discovered it's something to do with having two monitors - one is
1280x1024 and the other is 1440x900. I can fill the screen on one or the
other but not both at the same time - is there a way?

Run them both at the SAME resolution. Thanks for that little bit of info
about there being TWO monitors.

I then get a stretched picture on the widescreen.

There's no need for both monitors to be at the same resolution. I have
two monitors here, one 19" and one 17" and I run each at a different
resolution.

Yes I have them running at different resolutions, but the option seems to be
which monitor to have the blank bars on in so far as the
wallpaper/background is concerned.

The issue is "distorted" wallpaper, there is not a problem with actually
running monitors with different resolution/sizes.

OK, I came late to the thread. Sorry if I misunderstood what you were
saying.
