Widescreen LCD TFT Monitor again

Re earlier posting of wallpapers not filling widescreen and leaving bands
down the side.

Have discovered it's something to do with having two monitors - one is
1280x1024 and the other is 1440x900. I can fill the screen on one or the
other but not both at the same time - is there a way?

Can't you just use the stretch option when choosing the wallpaper?

I do but it leaves 3cm blue bands down the sides. (even with 1440x900
wallpaper)

How do you use the second display - as a mirror of the first, or as extra
desktop space? If extra space, then it is clearly a conflicting aspect ratio
problem across the 2 screens. I've never tried this, but perhaps you could
manually create an image that is the right size and have it shown across
both screens? The image would have to be 2 rectangles merged together, so
wouldn't be a rectangular final image, but it might work - would only take a
couple of minutes to try!
