re. dvd-rw

hello. i am having trouble with my dvd-rw combo. it is no
longer able to read the disks. when i put in a disk it
comes up "enter a disk" when i click on the icon.cam
someone help

Has anything changed (like new hardware or software, or
service packs)?

Otherwise, try deleting the drive from the device manager
and scan for changes. That may restore it temporarily or
permanently. My DVD-ROM drive did that after I upgraded
from W2000 to XP pro, and I had to delete/scan after
every reboot until I replaced it with a DVD+/-RW.

Maybe a guru can come up with a better answer.
