DVD+RW write protected.

i have a DVD/CD-RW drive.
All the information on the disc is write protected, and it won't let me
format the disk, overwrite the current information or delete the information
on the disc.

Is it because the disc is DVD+RW and my drive is a DVD/CD-RW?
or is there something i can do to make it work?
(without purchasing anything prefferably.)
Thanks,
vB

Yes your correct. From what you posted you have a DVD/CD-RW which means you
can play DVD's and burn cd's. You will need a DVD-RW combo drive to erase or
burn cd/dvds that are RW (Rewrittable). Take a look a NewEgg.com for you can
pick up a OEM Pioneer for under 25 dollars with free shipping. Make it a
great day.

If you don't already have a copy, you can get a version
of the Nero InfoTool here. Unzip the file and run
the infotool.exe file.

http://www.cdspeed2000.com/files/NeroInfoTool_403.zip

The "Drive" tab, shows the read and write capabilities
of the drive.

The "Disc" tab shows information about the currently inserted
disc.

Does what you see make sense ?

Paul
