RE Blank desktop

There was a thread dated 3/5/08 where Christine was having a problem with
missing desktop icons and start bar. I am having the same problem. I had
started out with a new computer where I installed XP Pro. When I installed
the updates and restarted the system something interupted the process and it
restarted again except it went to the screen where you choose from safe
mode, start in last known and start windows normally. I chose start normally
and when I logged in the icons and start bar came up then dissappeared. Now
this has happened with both XP PRO and Home operating systems. I followed
David Lipman's instructions and everything is set to what he said they should
be. What would be the problem with my system?

Ok I went into the side I set up for my wife and the desktop dissappeared.
Went into the Task screen and went through all the steps and everything is
still set correctly. Oh When I typed explorer.exe in the task mananger
nothing came up.
