RE-activating WinXP Home

I am helping a friend "rebuild" his system. This entailed reloading the OEM
CD's provided by Toshiba to return to the original image.

The system he has is Windows XP (Home) - SP1. As is their custom, Toshiba
has affixed the product activation key on the bottom of the laptop.

I was able to reload the OEM CDs without a problem but have not been able to
connect to the Microsoft Activation site. I have tried using the dial-up
(modem) capability and the direct Internet connect capability ... neither
works. I am not getting the option to set up by phone.

Once a day I get a reminder to activate. But have never been able to get
past the connectivity problem.

When I do a Start > All Programs > Accessories >System Tools, I do NOT see
an "Activate Windows" option.

Is there a command that I can issue to force WinXP to load the activiation
dialog ?

Or, can someone sent me the phone number so that I can call Microsoft
Activiation directly ?

Thanks,
Rich

Hi Rich,
Try this:
Open a run command and type in:

%systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a click [OK], does it represent
you with the wizard?

If the command didn't help try to repair the ctivation wizard, it may
corrupt or damaged by doing the seteps on the link below.
You are prompted to activate Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 every time
