RDP works as admin, not user, black screen (3rd request for help)

3rd (THIRD) post/request:
PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO:
The login failure is with my account (Bob F), but when
attempting to log in with the Administrator
account, it works!!!!

Therefore, the reply by Jeffrey Randow (Windows Net. &
Smart Display MVP)
(e-mail address removed) is INCORRECT!
(Take a look at
http://dev.remotenetworktechnology.com/ts/blackhole.htm
for more information about this.)

It has to be wrong, because all other PC's work on the
same home network,
and a NEW PC (as stated below DID work, but also stopped).

But do remember, it WORKS as Administrator.

I stumbled across this:
http://dev.remotenetworktechnology.com/ts/fixmsrdp.htm

Any relevance (MS Patch/Update??)

Original threads below:

I have been using Remote Desktop successfully for some
time. Lately, when I connect to my desktop PC from my
laptop, I get authenticated, the screen begins to log me
in, and then remains black, no successful login. Other
PC's on the network (at home) do work as they are supposed
to, but this one PC has all of a sudden refused to
complete the process.

User account settings, associated passwords, ports, etc.
are all configured correctly (since all other machines can
work, it's not a network, port or configuration issue), so
I am stumped.

The login failure is with my account (Bob F), as when
attempting the very same thing with the Administrator
account, it works. When attempting the login with Bob F,
the login screen will vary sometimes to it's progress,
sometimes freezing at the User/Password screen, other
times bypassing that screen and then usually a black sceen
forever.

OK, did ALL the things as specified in the reply by Jeff
and no change.
Oddly, I had a clients new Dell here this week, and while
setting it up, I was able to access it via remote desktop,
but then it too has same issue, black screen. Sometimes
it'll hang on the login screen with password (filled in).
All other PC's in this home network work flawlessly, so it
ain't a black hole router issue. Any more ideas??

Does this problem happen for all other non-administrator accounts
If it only happens for BobF, did you try giving him a new profile

There are no other accounts, just me, and admin. All
other PC's that connect fine also have only 2 accounts, a
user (all with Admin privs) and Admin.

A new Profile? This is a non-domain peer to peer
network. What do you mean a new profile?

Thanks

What I mean is, if your logon credentials are accepted, and no error is displayed to the user then the problem is likely to be the user's profile loading, i.e. Desktop Settings, Network connections & printers, registry hive, everything in "Documents and Settings\%UserName%\

An easy way to test this is to create another non-priviliged user account and see if you can logon via RDP using the settings generated from the Default User Profile

OK, I created a new user, and it works, but my acount
still does not work. Also, as I had said, I just setup a
new PC 2 days ago that experienced the same issues, it
worked, then not. Any idea what I need to do with the
profiles?

Thanks once again.

Backup your settings, i.e. export IE Favs & Cookies, save desktop icons, documents, email... burn to CD, logon as admin -> Rename your profile "UserName_Bad"-> logon with your account (new profile generated) -> Test RDP Connection -> If test works, restore whatever files & settings you need to -> Test connection agai

Profile corruption is not uncommon

That is the main problem that causes a black screen that solves a vast
majority of the cases....
