RDP Logout

Hi,
Is there a way to change the length of time so that Remote Desktop doesn't
log you off? Also, I installed the RDP on to a Windows 2000 Pro (which I
downloaded from Microsoft) machine but I noticed I don't have the "Option"
functionality that I do with my Windows XP RDP. I need to be able to print
but I'm not sure how to access the local printer is there something I
missed?

Thanks, Craig

Hello Craig,

Thank you for using newsgroup!

Based on my experience, this similar behavior may be caused by routers that
automatically end idle connections or has an automatic logoff screen saver
enabled.

For the second factor, you may remove the screen saver from the settings on
the terminal server for the user.

For the first factor, we may enable RDP keep alive packets.

Make the following registry changes on the RDP client machine:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Terminal Server Client]
"Keep Alive Interval"=dword:00000001

Make the following registry changes on the terminal server:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server]
"KeepAliveInterval"=dword:00000001
"KeepAliveEnable"=dword:00000001

Hope that helps!

Thanks & Regards,

Ken Zhao
