RDP: DSL Problems, I think.

I setup a rdp for my grandma's computer so I could fix it from my house. I
built her a computer and setup up a batch file to read her IP address and
email it to me when she dbl clicks on my icon. This worked great until she
moved to Nevada and switched from Comcast cable internet to earthlink DSL.
She clicks on the batch file now and it keeps sending me an internal IP of
192.168.1.2 How can that be? She doesn't have a router. On the header
block of her email I can see an IP address that is distinguishable as a
client address. But it wont allow me to connect! How do I direct her to
give me a valid IP address so I can start an rdp? Does this setup sound
peculiar to any of you? Did the tech install firewall software or is the
modem blocking the IP or is Earthlink configured to not assign an IP
address? I am above my head with this one!
Thanks
Yo.

What type of DSL Modem was provided? It is very possible that your grandma's
modem is a modem/router combination.
