RDC hangs on login screen

I am using Windows XP Pro SP2.

When I open RDC it hangs right at the login screen. Only half of the login
box appears and there is no place to type the login name or password.
Eventually it times out and closes.

I just used this last night, and now today it doesn't work.

PLEASE HELP, I need this to work in order to run my business.

Make sure the video graphics drivers are up to date on the PCs. You also
might look at the event log for possible clues.

I just updated the graphic drivers and I'm still having the same problem.

I checked the Event Viewer and there are no logs being created when RDC
fails. I double checked to make sure the policy, Audit Logon events was
enabled and set to failure.

Any other ideas?

I also updated RDC to version 6.0 and I'm still experiencing the same problem.

I have the same problem and was not be able to solve it for the last
month.
It look like exactly new graphical driver is causing the problem (I
remember updating one, though I did a lot of updates).
For now I just created another user and able to login on his behalf,
but attempt to access my main account failed by timeout.
This is not LAN/WAN problem: I have similar behavior over VPN and on
my local network (I use my laptop to locally connect to my main
desktop).
One day I was able to remotely login to the desktop by setting color
depth to 256, this worked, then I re-login with 16bit color - it
worked.
I closed the connection and next day nothing worked again!
Big frustration!!!!

In brief:
1. Remote Desktop connection suddanly stopped to work (time out after
login)
2. Newly created account is remotely accessible (I tried to create
account with absolutely identical privilages)

Any suggestions?
