There is a computer we have which is behind a Cisco PIX firewall and
has a static public IP translated to the local machine on port 3393
for RDP. Recently it started having a strange issue where when
connecting to it I get a login box but when entering username and
password it will think for a bit and then disconnect the session
without giving me the actual desktop. We've made sure there is an
exception in Windows Firewall for the correct port since we've changed
it to 3393.

There is no other firewall running on the desktop and I can't seem to
find any info on the internet as to what may cause this. Does anyone
have any advice?

What version of the RDP client are you running? If its the new RDP 6 client
make sure its configured like this to connect to another XP Pro machine...

Beyond that, can you connect to the host PC from another PC on the same LAN,
ie. not going through the firewall?

Anything in the event logs on the client and/or host that may provide a
clue?

Any error message?

Are you running a full screen MS-DOS app?
