rcf.exe file

Recent bootup of Windows 2000 O/S results in error message "rcf.exe error".
Error message continues with restart request. Restart or reload does not
remove problem. System appears to operate normally with or without restart.
Can anyone tell me what the rcf.exe function is used for and what might be
causing the error message?
