Computers Keeps want to reinstall printer at bootup/restart

Have an HP Laserjet 2300dtn with drivers installed and working with Windows
2000 pro. At bootup or restart, Windows want to re-install the PCL6 driver
and I cannot seem to get rid of this step no matter what. Have attempted to
let Win 2K install the driver and it ends off with an error message and
aborts the installation.

How do I get this from reoccuring each time I restart Win 2K?

I had the same issue because of a setup that falied to complete; they often
require to continue aftera reboot. try to fully un-install the printer
driver and then try a full install.
