Errors - Outlook 2007 Professional with Windows 7 Ultimate

I get the following problems in Outlook 2007 Professional new installation
with Windows 7 ultimate O/S -

1) When I try to import a Personal folder from another .pst file of same
Outlook 2007 version it gives me an error "The Messaging interface has
returned an unknown error. If the problem persists restart Outlook". This
error never goes off even after restart.

2) Trying to add new Outlook data file through Data File Management after
selecting type of storage for new outlook data file as Office Outlook
Personal Folders file and selecting the specific .pst file it gives an error
'The requested operation failed'.

Office Diagnostics shows up no errors.

Any guidance and help will be appreciated.

Do not import a pst-file but reconnect to it via;
File-> Open-> Outlook Data File...

If you are recovering this pst-file from a backup, make sure you copy it
back to your hard disk first. For instance, copy it to a folder like (My)
Documents\Outlook.
Also make sure that the file has not been marked as Read Only.

If you still have issues opening the pst-file then, check it for errors with
scanpst.exe.

From your description.....

#1 - Importing from a PST file is never a good or right way to move info,
- in fact, long-term can lead to problems so from that perspective, the
fact that the byproduct of this error saved you from doing that is a good
thing. Errors aside, correct approach is to simply open the PST file and
then move/copy data (if required) as the situation warrants

#2 - Is this new PST one that was copied from another system? Did you
remove the "read-only" attribute from the file after it was copied?
If the "read-only" attribute is not the cause of the problem, would
suggest running ScanPST on the file which is not part of Office Diags.
