Range on Remote Wonder?

I read the range should be approximately 60 feet on this remote. I am
currently getting at best 10-15. Here is the weird part. I built a
media server for all of my music and was delighted to find out that my
remote wonder control worked in almost every room downstairs in my
house. The the motherboard went up in smoke. So, I put in a new
motherboard and got the system running again. I had to change very
little in terms of drivers, and nothing that seems to be related to the
RW.

Anyway, now I can only control it from about 10 to 15 feet away,
basically the same room. New batteries, etc. Could this be some kind
of USB power thing?

Are you sure the power supply is adequate? If not, it could've caused the
m/b failure.Tried more than one set of new batteries? tried different USB
ports? Put the receiver in the exact same place as before? Obviously just
guessing.
RW,RW2 or RW+ ?

Thank you. I believe it is an RW.

I replaced the power supply with a newer, larger one in the event what
you state was true.

I have tried 2 different sets of brand new batteries (different
manufactureres)

The receiver is in the same place.

I will try different USB ports tonight. But they all come off the MB.

RW receiver is a little box with a wire antenna hanging out of it. RW2 is
shaped like a hamburger bun. RW2 is supposed to have a lot better range.
Can't recall specifics. Changing position of RW antenna could affect
reception. Haven't used the RW much but have noticed the RW2 can be finicky
about the position the remote is held even at close range.

Different USB ports can be on different IRQs. IIRC my M/B has 6 ports on 3
IRQs. I've had problems from putting RW2 on a busy IRQ. Don't think it would
actually affect reception but it might appear that way.
