range-locking?

Hi there. I've added several WinXP pro stations to my
company network. It is a windows 2000 based domain.
Most of my stations are Win98, but we've done adding of
the XP stuff.

Most of my xp stations are fine, however I have a few
that when opening office documents located on a network
share, they suffer from the following; they open slow,
close slow, cannot save because it thinks the disk is
full or write-protected, and I have intermittent printing
problems with printers connected to some of these xp
stations that are sharing them out on the network. The
printing issue may or may not be related. The closets KB
article I can find that relates to my issues is 212370.

The article talks about range-locking capabilites and
increasing it, but I can not find anything in the KB that
talks about how to do this.

My Win98 stations do not suffer from these problems, and
not all of my XP stations do either, just a handful.

They all logon to a Win2k server.

I would appreciate any help at all!

Thanks.

Just a thought; DO the users at these stations have the
proper permissions to modify &/or save doc's? Double
check their network permissions to be sure. I also do not
think the printer issues are related. As far as the
printer, did you double check that the proper drivers are
loaded for the networked printers on those nodes? Simple
stuff if it works, but sometimes that's what gets us! GL!
