random text appears out of nowhere?

I was in micro soft word the latest one when all of a sudden, a series of
random letters appears in a long row something like this xypqrxpwrtkgq1qprx
and I have to delete it every tiime, cannot backspace to get rid of it. This
also happens in instant messenger and when I type an e-mail. What is going on
and how can I fix the problem?

It sounds like you have a faulty keyboard. If the sequence is always
the same, the other possibility woudl be a virus.

If you are using a wired keyboard, replace it and see if the problem
goes away. If wireless, replace the batteries and re-connect. If this
doens't help, replace the keyboard.

From the statement that you can't backspace, I would lean more toward a

faulty keyboard.

Virus -- NO !

Either it is the keyboard or it is the Microphone trying to do speech to text !

Mute the microphone and see if it stops.

hmm? that is odd.

have you tried repairing word. there is a repair feature under the help in
its toolbar and i think you have a repair otpion in the add/remove section
too.

don't know if it will work but worth a try...

You have speech to text services turned on. Turn it off.

I found the problem, I think. Some one told me the reason why I was getting
ramdom letters out of no where because of spam. They told me to refrag the
computer to get rid of it. I did and not a problem anymore. how could spam
do this?
