Random System Hangs

I hope someone can help me as I am now really getting demented!

A little while a go my PC was working perfectly then all of a sudden
my NVIDIA 6600GT (AGP) failed. I tested this by trying it in another
pc and it didn't work in there either, so I binned it and bought a
7600GT.
Since this was installed I have experienced random system hangs, and
when I say random it can happen in any application.
I have tried the following fixes and nothing has worked:

tried several versions of NVIDIA drivers,
ran chkdsk
replaced graphics card
swapped ram around
changed anti virus from Kaspersky to AVG
replaced Soundcard and drivers
replaced power supply
moved pci cards around.
According to Motherboard Monitor and Speedfan nothing seems to be
overheating.
Reinstalled Windows XP Pro

The only thing that seems to help is if I completely turn of graphics
acceleration, and seeing as my PC is mainly used for gaming, is
pointless.

I would really appreciated any advice you can provide.

Upgraded to 600w from 450w.

The system just hangs, cursor stops moving and CTRL, ALT and DEL does
nothing. Nothing in Event log either.

Have you checked your log files to see if anything relates to your problem?
A couple of other thoughts are maybe the new graphics card is bad or your
AGP slot was damaged when your first card went bad. Good luck.

Yeah, but there is nothing, although the last time it hung rather than
restart it straight away, I left if for about 10 mins and the fans
were still whirring away, even the the display had dropped, then up
popped a blue screen of death with the dreaded nv4_disp.dll was stuck
in a loop.
I have ruled out the card as the problem has occurred with 2 different
7600GT cards and not a driver issue as I have tried 4 different
drivers, each time I have removed the old one using NFR. Therefore I
can only come to the same conclusion, in that the only other thing I
can of is the AGP slot.
If anyone has any other ideas, though...
