Random Restarts

I just built a new computer a couple weeks ago and have been getting random
restarts since day one. When the computer restarts I get an error report
that looks like this:

Event Type: Error

Microsoft says its a problem with a Lexar media reader driver but I don't
have a Lexar media reader. I do have a Brother all-in-one printer that has a
media reader though. Any ideas what is causing this?

It could be the media reader in the Brother AIO Printer. I would contact
Brother technical support, and request for updated drivers.

Have you tried unpluging your printer and see if that salves the Problem? I
Build computers and had a couple do the same thing and found out it was a
memory card going bad or not compatable.

Thanks for all the reply's!

I think this could be any one of these four things, bad memory, bad hard
drive, bad device driver, or the media reader.

I disabled the media reader in device manager yesterday. So if my computer
restarts with it disabled does that mean I can rule out the media reader as
the problem?

I'm in the process of exchanging a stick of RAM that showed errors with
Microsofts memory tester. But I got the same error twice since removing that
stick of RAM. The other stick of RAM showed no errors, but I will run some
more tests on it.

I have a Western Digital SATA hard drive. Their website says that jumpers 3
and 4 are for PM2 power managment and should only be used for workstations
and servers. Does that PM2 thing have anything to do with my system standby
options?

While you are finding out what your hardware problem is, have you backed up
everything on your machine that can't be re-created if the hard drive were
to die?

I have a dump file and I have dumpchk.exe but I suck at DOS. I've read
through all the microsoft pages for using dumpchk but it just makes it more
confusing. Can anyone help walk me through this? Thanks!
