BSOD with (102) error

Hello everyone,
my notebook (HP nc6320 - WINXP Professional SP2) crashes with a Black
Screen Of Death when I try to enable the soundmax integrated digital
HD audio device on device manager. I already upgraded the driver
version from the HP web site, but that did not solve.

The event viewer shows this error message:

Did you install a NIC or other card? It could be an IRQ conflict, bad
RAM.. Look for information on the 7F error here:

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/ms795478.aspx

Look at "Cause" and "Resolving the Problem".

hth,

Hello Elmo,
thanks for you answer: I did not install anything new recently. The
problem started some time ago, randomly. I made an antivirus scan,
and, after that, everytime the laptop booted I got this error. I had
to disable the soundmax card (it took me 24h to find out that the
soundmax device was causing the error!)

Regards,
D.
