Random folder names display ... at the end

This is something I never encountered before but recently my Asus 1000HE
netbook has been displaying some folder names with ... at the end.
Normally ... is used if the file name is too long and when you select
it, it automatically shows the full name. However with this problem,
the name of the folder isn't long yet it displays ... at the end. And
when you select it, it still keeps ...

I have a folder called Temp, instead it just displays Te...

When I try to rename it, like Te, it'll display T...

This doesn't affect all folders, seems to be random. Only when I select
View as Detail List, it'll display the whole title. But if I used List,
Thumbnails, Filmstrip, and Icons, it still have the ... at the end.

I can't remember exactly how I got this problem. The last thing I
remembered doing was disabling some unnecessary services. But I enabled
them back again and I still had the same problem. I read in another
forum that it may be due to foreign language like the regional
settings? Right now I'm scanning for any virus before windows boots
up.
