RAM not recognized

I'm running XPSP2 and I just replaced my 128MB RAM with 2X256MB RAM.
However, the "Properties" under "My Computer" still says 128MB RAM. The
computer appears to be running faster but I want to be sure I don't need to
"tell" my PC that the new memory should be 512MB. I performed a scan through
Crucial.com (which is where I obtained the memory specs) and it recognized
the 512MB. Please help.

First - check with a general PC hardware group. This is a group for DotNet
programming. Now to answer your question - does your BIOS see all 512Mb of
RAM? If not, Windows won't see it either.
