Radeon 9600 Pro or Geforce ti4200 128mb?

Just wanting some opinions. I'm getting ready to put a system
together (2.7 T'bred`, etc.) I'm torn between these two cards. I
have been a geforce man for a long time, but a friend of mine is
enjoying his 9600 pro.

My main concern is compatibility with games (i'm a gamer mostly mmorpg
(looking forward to World of Warcraft - I digress)).

I am also concerned with the driver quality. I pretty much hear good
things about the detonators of course, but don't hear much or only bad
about the ATI drivers.

Anyone give me some guidance?

In general:
I've been looking for a new card recently and having been asking similar
questions. I like to stay behind the curve - for stability and price
reasons. (I'm always playing games 1 or 2 years old anyway - cheaper that
way, plus all the patches are out :) My system is an Athlon XP 2400+, and
I wanted something that wouldn't be overkill for it, since I don't plan on
using the card again when I buy a new system in a year or 2. I also don't
need a lot of memory on board. I want to play this past year's games and
earlier, but not next year's high end games. I just bought a used Gainward
Ti 4200 with 64M for $60. I think that's a lot of bang for the buck.

You, on the other hand, have a faster system, and want to be more up to
date. The 9600 is not total bleeding edge, and has stable drivers. It also
is faster than the 4200, and you will be more likely to utilize the extra
memory than I will. Go with the 9600 Pro. Sounds like a very popular and
fast card. It's what I would have bought if I had the $150+ to spend.

Had a Ti4200, just upgraded to a 9600Pro (coz I couldn't get a 9500Pro
anywhere). I wouldn't go back if I were paid to!!
The drivers are fine and the card (Gigabyte) is an excellent performer.
