r/w cd drive not opening

Something strange is going on with my r/w cd drive. At times the drive will not open manually nor by software eject. After some time has past it will work again.
Does anyone have a clue as to what is causing this?

Are you using "packet-writing" software like InCD or Drag to CD(aka. DirectCD)?

You may still have "leftovers" from the program, if you did not
un-installing it correctly. You may have to re-install the one you were
using amd then uninstall it.

You didn't say whether or not there is a disk in the drive when this behavior
occurs. I've never heard of packet-writers locking a drive with nothing in it.

No disk in it I was wanting to put one in. The second cd drive continues to
work during the time that the r/w would not.
Not sure if Musicmatch has caused this but I had updated it before the first
occurance.


You didn't say whether or not there is a disk in the drive when this behavior
