How can I find the files for r-click menus? In some applications they are
getting out of hand and I would like to weed them out a bit. Some of them
offer to create new instances of applications that I have never used and am
not likely to.

TIA JAX

well if you are not going to use the apps and are not likely to you can
always remove the program from the computer.

Thanks William, the operative is, "not likely to". I want to keep them in
case I ever want to.

Hi Jax,

It depends on where in the right click menu.

Go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\OpenWithList
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers

ContextEdit lets you control which items appear on your context menu
(right-click) in Windows Explorer.

Add, Modify, Disable, Delete Context Menu Listings (Line 23)

Hi Kelly:
I'm lost- perhaps u could explain in 'baby steps'?
Namely Line 23 is 'Run Startup Programs from the
CMD Prompt ' & used how?
ContextEdit is an app? CMD?

Thanks- bye- Larry

|Note it works partially with Win 2000, Win ME & Win XP. These three have lots of extra settings and more inheritance.
|
|There is an updated one just released - but they want you to subscribe to get it. Don't know if it applies to this version as well.

Any advise is my attempt to contribute more than I have received but I can only assure you that it works on my PC. GOOD LUCK.
